Cloud HAT is a project by building up a system that converts a series of sound data into digital knitted patterns to make a collection of hats. Through its application, all the hats become the storage of the sound data and represent the data together with wearers in the material world.
By using this system, the knitting fabrics are not just knitting structures. They can contain any kinds of the data information and combine with knitting patterns in different possible ways. The hats made from those fabrics became a new form of data storage that people can actually wear, touch and play with. Cloud HAT provides wearers a chance to communicate and build the connections with “virtual world” by experiencing the materials and products in a playful way. It gives the hats a new meaning as a bridge or a symbol between our real life and digital world.
Just like we saving and sharing the digital data in the “cloud”, Cloud HAT wishes to share and spread an uplifting and playful way to percept the information era that we are living in.
